I am a K-3 teacher in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. After over twenty years and a bunch of improvements in my teaching, I still have so much more to learn. Plus life is too short to be stuck doing the same thing in and out everyday. This blog is a way to help me process and share all that I'm discovering on my quest to be the best educator I can be.
My name is Karen Lirenman and I am a primary teacher with Surrey Schools, in British Columbia, Canada. I began my teaching career in 1992 and in that time I've taught Kindergarten, Grade One, Kindergarten/Grade One Combined, Grade One/Grade Two Combined, and ESL K-7. I am an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Google Certified Teacher, a DEN Star, and the recipient of the 2013 ISTE Kay L. Bitter Award for innovation in PK-2 teaching. In my classroom I connect my students globally through tools such as blogs, video conferencing, and Twitter. I love to provide my students with choice in how they learn, show, and share their knowledge. I love to present regularly, sharing my love of innovative uses of technology and the power of the little people.
