My One Little Word For 2012

I've been reading posts on Twitter written by people who have chosen a single word to inspire their 2012 year.  If I'm not mistaken credit for this idea belongs to Two Writing Teachers.  While I'm not one to make resolutions one word did instantly pop into my head.  After commenting on two separate blog posts  (Laura's and Cathy's)  I figure it was time I wrote my own post sharing my word.

My word for 2012 is CAN.

I CAN make a difference in the lives of my students, my friends, and my family.
I CAN make things happen when others feel it is impossible.
I CAN block out the negative.
I CAN embrace the positive.
I CAN make changes.
I CAN inspire others.
I CAN learn from others.
I CAN push  boundaries.
I CAN do anything I set my mind to.
I CAN make a difference in my life.
I CAN ...

What's your word?

  3. Thanks Ladies. It's funny how a word just popped into my head yet it is a different word than everyone else. We've all chosen great words. 2012 will be another exciting year for learning and sharing. Karen

  4. Karen,
Smart word. There are so many things we CAN accomplish if we set our minds to it. Now that we have put our words out there, we can all help each other accomplish them.

  5. Your word is inspiring-thank you. Mine is enjoy. Enjoy the small moments, enjoy the hard bits as much as the easy bits, enjoy my children & husband more. Enjoy my students, my colleagues & my profession more. Just aim to enjoy :)

  8. Thanks Hugh. This idea was not mine. The original idea from what I have read came from the Two Writing Teacher's Blog. You can find it here.

Im curious to read what your word will be. Perhaps it is something you can get your students to do too? I'm not sure my grade one students will be able to do it but it may be something I encourage their parents to discuss with them. Karen

  9. Karen, if I were asked to choose a word to describe you it would be CAN. You are one of the most positive, life-embracing people I know. What a perfect choice for your 2012 word! I love this idea too, and may try it with my kiddos next week. Still mulling over my own word . . .

  10. Thanks Megan. You inspire me with the incredible strength you have and the wonderful ways you teach your students. I am very lucky to work (and run) along side you. I hope you do this with your students. I'd love to do it with mine but I think they are too young to really understand it. Here's to many positive things in our lives. Karen
